Max RAM for a 2008 white macbook?

Any of them can use up to 4GB. Some can use up to 6. I know OWC has a lookup for this stuff. Buy it from any source you like. Just make sure you read comments to verify someone has used it successfully on a Mac.

You can find specs on all Apple products, including maximum RAM:

• By visiting EveryMac.com: Actual Maximum RAM
• By using Mactracker
• By entering your serial number here to find specs for your model. (Be aware that some models can use more RAM than Apple shows. Check EveryMac or MacTracker to verify.)

Crucial's RAM configurator always works for me.

This suggests: 2 x 2.0GB PC5300 DDR2 your link seems to be PC6400 and may or may not work.

You need to double-check exactly which MacBook it is

If it is a MacBook 4,1 then it is not a 2.16GHz model but may be 2008

If it is a 2,16GHz then it is a MacBook 2,1

Max ram for MacBook 2,1 is 4GB but will only see 3.3GHz
Max ram for MacBook 4,1 is 6GB and will see all of it.

The Kingston ram you linked to on Amazon.co.uk will work fine if it is a MacBook 2,1 BUT WON'T work in the MacBook 4,1.

Go to Apple Menu>About this Mac>more info and double-check the MacBook identifier

The ram you linked to is not exactly very good value either !!

FWIW 6 GB usually isn't sold as a set since it consists of a 4GB module and a 2 GB module. Buy separate modules or order from a place that specializes in memory.

Does she really need 6GB ?

4GB DDR2 ram chips are not too cheap (£40-50 each) while 2GB chips are £18 each ....
