After installing Tiger I ran xBench to get a (I know I know, none accurate...) feel for what it did for my system.
I was also hoping to see some speed improvments, because my system has been draggin in the last couple months pretty bad. I was hoping getting Tiger on here would give the system a fresh start.
Aside from quite a few things testing lower, here is the HD test information
Disk Test 35.15
Sequential 38.41
Uncached Write 32.87 13.70 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Write 31.13 12.75 MB/sec [256K blocks]
Uncached Read 82.43 13.05 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Read 33.92 13.71 MB/sec [256K blocks]
Random 32.40
Uncached Write 25.39 0.38 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Write 41.29 9.31 MB/sec [256K blocks]
Uncached Read 32.65 0.22 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Read 34.25 7.05 MB/sec [256K blocks]
Is that uncached read/write speed normal?! Could my drive me having problems and this be the cause of the incredible slow downs and beach balls? In the past I checked my RAM to make sure it hadn't failed, but I never thought to look in to the HD. Can someone tell me if this is normal for a 1.5 year old 4200rpm 80gig drive?
Thanks guys,
~Earendil
