256gb in 11'' macbook air
Can you buy a 256 gb 11'' air or do you have to add 128gb after purchase? It says configurable to 256gb on the apple store web page. Explain please to this idiot.

Yes, you can get a 256GB SSD in the 11" Air, either with the 1.6GHz Core i5 or the 1.8GHz Core i7. From the online store, click on the 11" Air with the 128GB SSD. When you get to the next screen you can select a 256GB SSD.
Note that some resellers (notably MacMall) have the 256GB model for less than Apple's prices, so you might check them out, as well. |

And there is only a single SSD slot so you can't "add" 128gb, you'd have to replace a 128 with a 256.
So your best bet is to get a BTO with 256gb

Just in case 256GB may not be enough for you, you can purchase it with 128GB memory and then upgrade using one of the third party SSDs, all way up to 480GB.
