seeing grey screen when starting up ?

I put Mac in sleep mode and when I hit space bar to turn on Mac I get a small grey square and have to restart sometimes I have all blue screen,please tell me whats happening.

your as young as you feel, so they say, i myself have a wife who is 76 years my junior. 😀😀😀😀 😱 🙂
