Is this possible? ATV2 output only audio?

I like the idea of streaming my audio to ATV, but I do not want to have my TV on while doing so. I see in the back it has a digital audio cable, but my speakers are 2.1 with the 3.5mm jack. Im not sure if it is possible to convert digital audio signal to analog from the ATV. Any suggestions?

There's no option other than connecting the AppleTV2 via a digital connection (HDMI or Optical). If all you have is your TV, then you'll need to turn it on to use your 2.1 speakers.

Might be a good time to grab a cheap receiver and speaker set...

you will have to set your atv to stereo outpuy mode, as that adapter doesn't handle 5.1, but if you're only playing music, it should be only outputting 2 channel anyway.

only $26, plus shipping (and tax depending on where you live)

i guess that is 1/4 the cost of the appleTV though.
