I was just given (for free) 10 DVD+Rs. Does anyone here happen to know if the Superdrive can burn and play DVD+R? The only info I can find at the Apple site mentions DVD-R. I was just wondering if DVD+R, although not officially supported, will work anyway? I certainly hope so.

no

alas, there is not a standard DVD format yet. Only +R and -R. Apple's Pioneer Superdrives are minus r, and can only burn -r. +R requires a DVD+R burner, and they can be found in Macmall, etc. Sony released a new drive that will write to both -R's and +R's. The only drawback is that iDVD will only work with APPLE superdrives, and im not sure how many DVD video burning apps there are besides DVD Studio Pro, the expensive $1000 app. 🙁 Both +R's and -R's have 4.7 gigs, but -Rs are more compatible and hold less time.
