Powerbook updates?

http://www.yourdailymac.com

Powerbooks this week? And some specs....

there are a lot of powerbooks still in the channel... so this week seems unlikely.

It's entirely likely

Channel levels are NOT very high;

Retailers have been told to "sell through" their current models of iBook & PowerBook already. This update should be relatively soon if Apple hopes to have them in all retailers before Thanksgiving weekend. I think its very possible

Stock levels at Club Mac, which posts inventory levels on the item's page are currently:

800Mhz-271
667Mhz-104

This is down from 460 and 275 respectively, from two weeks ago.

Have to agree, I've been waiting for a new PowerBook G4 to replace my older PowerBook, but even the last update wasn't worth my money. If this is true then I'll be waiting another 6 months...

...if they only put 32MB video Ram in, they will lose all credibility that is left.

PUT IN 64 MB VIDEO RAM
HIGHER BUS SPEED

I won't waste my hard earned money on one of those, I rather wait for a speed-bumped 13" WS iBook

Just to add fuel to the fire...

Small Dog is down to 2 new Powerbooks in stock... all of the other powerbook models are marked with a status of 7 to 10 days.

I thought the Radeon 9000 is only 64mb of VRAM. Coupled with that 7.4" laptop speculation...I would think this info is false.

I can't see Apple using anything but the new Radeon 9000 in there next Powerbook revision. It is the only laptop card that should be used at this point. Compaq was one of the first...if not the first. It will be in all other high end PC laptops soon... Apple doesn't have a choice really.

Um, Radeon 9000 comes in 32 MB and 64 MB. And you posted the 7.4" stuff on the wrong thread

I will be surprised of new PBs come before MWSF. The Apple Store shows 3-5 day shipping and has this promo going:
Power Couple Promo: From October 11, 2002, through December 31, 2002, get up to $400 back via mail-in rebate when you purchase a qualifying PowerBook computer along with a 17-inch, 22-inch, or 23-inch Apple flat-panel display.

So help me, if I don't get ATI 9000 with 64MB DDR, I'm gonna go buy a PC! (ok, maybe nothing quite that extreme).

I would hope the next up update also has faster bus.

If you get a PC, go the Radeon 9700 route.
