Talking Dear att- Let's work this Throttling out

yes, yes "another throttling thread", but hear me out .... yes, you ATT trolls: please _read_, then run along & deliver this message to your managers, supervisors, etc

dear at&t:
- obviously you have more then 5% of customers, who are still on unlimited data & (surprisingly) ARE using more then 2GB of data a month (hint: just read around - _tons_ of pissed threads here, android forums, check twitter: #attFail, facebook, fcc, bbb, petition, consumer watchdog ... or, just ask your trolls)
- while you have managed to scare few of us with throttling & a bogus "only 5% use more then 2GB of data" tactic, the rest of us is not going away
- you & us (i) have signed the contract: you agreed to deliver unlimited (not limited; unrestricted; unconfined: unlimited trade. 2. boundless; infinite; vast: the unlimited skies. 3. without any qualification or exception; ) data, we agreed to pay (& some of us have been, for over 5 years)
- now ... we understand, you just realized i've made a terrible mistake, which eats into your profit (or there lack of this year, because you somehow managed to lose 6.7 billion, after signing on a record 4.9 million of new, smartphone subscribers ... aaaah, that darn t-mobile merger - 4 billion disaster, stupid governments & their silly, anti-monoply rules)

BUT ... you are actually loosing more time & $$ money $$ by trying to make us go away

SO PLEASE stop for a minute & consider this reasonable offer of truce:
- 2GB cap is not reasonable (especially with your recent change to 3gb & 5gb data plans ... i know, you meant it as a slap on the face, but i think it's back firing)
- 0.10mb speed is not reasonable ... on a "smart" phone (especially that you're advertising the best-since-sliced-cheese 4G so much recently)
i remember, when it was reasonable to take 5 min to load a webpage on ... a dial-up modem

ALL I ASK is to raise the throttling cap to 5GB - doing so:
- will make most of us complainers here go away (not literally, but "go away" from itching & hating att, spreading the bad word about its' overpriced service, horrible customer support, etc, etc)
- will make us stop abusing the system at night on purpose, in hope to raise the imaginary 2GB cap
- no more FCC / BBB inquiries - no more feds looking into your business practices
- no more expenses on a new army of trolls & "data specialists" who have to fight with angry customers all day long
- & yes, you still get to cap the abusers at 5GB - so maybe 1% will be left unhappy ... but you would have gained back 4% of _happy_ customers!
- as a bonus, you'll actually get to keep, 4-5% of your _paying_, smartphone customers. as oppose to them canceling without paying fees (i imagine this would help you to hold on to your profits next year)

ps: i'm not a tax expert, but maybe your lawyers can somehow write that $20/m difference between unlimited & 5GB plan of as a donation?

sincerely, your customer(s)
(who are educated, sarcastic, not afraid of big corporations, social media savy, and not going away anytime soon)

You do realize that it will cost them more to increase their equipment to support you high bandwidth users than it would to let you simply walk away.

Secondly, threatening them won't do a bit of good.

Lastly, your grammar is horrendous.

They have too many customers to worry about the few percent that bog down their network. Yeah you're customers too, but I am sure they don't care if you jump ship.

What does loosing mean?

I touched up on his grammar on my reply. Fixed the "than" and "losing". I am sure there is more, but those are a couple of my pet peeves.

Agreed. If you are unhappy at getting throttled, then you have a choice. Reduce the amount of data you use or leave at&t. Pretty simple.

Quite frankly, I am surprised that at&t hasn't dumped the unlimited plans.

Wrong again, bro. I am 32 and have complained here and hounded AT&T for hours to resolve this situation satisfactorily. Does AT&T pay you by the hour, or by the number of disgruntled AT&T customers you malign? If AT&T pays you by the number of "pro AT&T" comments you post you must be a millionaire by now.

Why do you associate protesting with being juvenile?

So i'm curious to people who have been throttled on ATT.

since they are usually 6X faster then CDMA anyway, what is a typical download speed while being throttled?

As much as I have hope for AT&T trying to return to it's non throttle tactics, they won't. The customer base that is complaining isn't as big. Now if they tried to charge $2 to pay your bill online, then you will see an uproar. I have the unlimited plan and I don't want ATT to punk me by reducing speed and collecting full payment. I'm about to take my business else where. They would rather lose a customer rather than remove the throttling. If anyone can prove other wise, I'm all ears. But I think ATT is full of S***!

Yet they are happy with offering folks 3GB of data for the same $30...

People essentially get throttled to 100kbps (like close to 0.1 mpbs). Which is close to dial up speeds (dial up speeds being 56K max).

EDGE speeds in theory can go over 230 kpbs. The max I ever hit on EDGE is 200 at most.

Of note, Verizon considers "3G" CDMA speeds 300kpbs.

and?

It is their network, they can run it however they want. If you don't like it, find a different carrier.

I think it's more the usual complete lack of grammatical and spelling ability, na´vetÚ about the way free markets work, and ignorant sense of entitlement that are associated with being juvenile...

I was throttled last month. My download speeds sitting at my desk before being throttled were around 1.4 Mbps. After being throttled I was at .08 Mbps in the same exact location.

Pretty big difference

The bottom reading is what I received while being throttled. The top line is from today. Over 5 MBPS down to 0.10 MBPS. Huge difference.

funny so for the most part your ATT throttled speeds are about what CDMA normal speeds are.

Dear ATT,

I saw you out with that other customer, whispering into his ear. Letting him use your data, and letting him text on your network. I thought we were exclusive? Well I have had enough, I am breaking up with you. I hope you two are very happy together.

I will never look at a cell tower the same again.

i don't associate protesting with being juvenile, in fact quite the opposite. Go read those threads, see what reasoning people are using, and their actions an you'll notice I am right. It's all immature/uneducated reaction.

And good for your bro, gald you're 32 and have time to be so passionate about cellular phone data throttling

also, i dont work for at&t, no affiliation, but your comment there makes my point, the mindset of a child from most of you on the subject

So I take it then that you consider questioning a childish thing to do?

I think you have grown complacent in your old age, to question that which is around you is a sign of a mature intellect.
