I am curious to see how hot others' G5s (Power Mac or iMac) are running.

For those of you who don't know, you can download Thermograph or Temperature Monitor (free and easy to use: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19994) to constantly monitor the temperature of your processor(s), memory controller heatsink, hard drive(s), etc.

When posting results for the Power Mac, also please be sure to state which processor speed and revision it is (i.e. Rev. A, Rev. B) as I am curious to see the differences between the 970 and 970FX chips.

Here are my current readings:

Machine: Power Mac G5 2.0 Rev. B

CPU A: 144.0ºF
CPU B: 134.4ºF
Drive Bay: 77.9ºF
Hard Drive 1: 104.0ºF
Hard Drive 2: 107.6ºF
Memory Controller Heatsink: 148.3ºF

Power Mac G5 Dual 1.8 (Rev B)

CPU A Die Temp 132.0'F / 55.6'C
CPU B Die Temp 125.0'F / 51.7'C
Drive Bay 63.5'F / 17.5'C
Hard drive 80.6'F / 27.0'C
Memory Controller Heatsink 115.2'F / 46.4'C

It is winter here the thing runs a lot hotter during summer, the fans are normally on constantly during the warmer months.

I'm a bit concerned about the memory controller temp  but the machine has been stable so far and relatively quiet.

Yes, I am also concerned abou the memory controller temps - mine seem to be a bit higher than usual for my machine (often around 150ºF / 65.5ºC)

However, for your 2.7 machine I think the high temp is normal.

By the way, can anyone tell me exactly what is the memory controller (U3) heatsink, and why it is usually hotter than even the processors?
