It is possible to change the white background from Apple's Mail? The black letters on white background are killing my sight!

Ideally I would love to use a background image like the one in Reeder app and increase the space between lines.

Any help please?

you could (just for mail) hit these four buttons: Command+Option+Control+8.

If it's turned on, these will make all the colors negative; making black white and white black.

If it's not turned on, check "preferences" then something like "universal access" and then something like "view"; "black on white".
