Hello!

I have a November 2009 Macbook Pro 13 inch. My HD recently died. I don't have apple care and I'm no where near an Apple store. I need to buy a replacement HD and install it myself. I have no problem doing doing the installing, but I have no idea what to buy. No idea what kind, or what brand, or anything.

When I added memory it was because websites would let me enter my mac information and they would suggest what memory to buy. But I haven't found the same deal with HDs.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I would really appreciate some help. I have no idea what I should be looking for (it won't be a flash drive, don't have enough money).

Thanks for any help.

I've been using the Seagate Momentus XT since it first came out with the 500GB. Now I have teh 750 and I'm pretty happy with it. I've debated on getting an SSD but just couldn't justify for the one that I wanted. The link is attached if you're wanting to take a look. Good luck.

I second that. I replaced the stock hard drive with the momentus xt 750gb and am extremely satisfied with it. SSDs are super expensive for the same amount of storage.

You can do that with HDs (or just about anything) on OWC:

I agree with others that the Momentus XT 750 is a nice compromise between performance and storage space. I've only had mine about a week, but really like it so far.

What was the capacity of your original drive, what capacity would you like and what's your budget?

Sorry! I think my drive was 260? I'm sorry, I've forgotten. It was 260-3 something. I know it wasn't 500 or 700.

The 750 is a little too rich for my blood, and I really don't need that much space. Is this the 500gb of the same one? So that will work also?

Thank you!
