iPhone 4S=a pretty, but useless piece of junk

iPhone 4S=a pretty, but useless piece of junk!

I've had the iPhone 4S, and I really hate it:

1. Drains batter quickly: needs to charge once per day.
2. Consume a lot of data: even Siri needs data, why?!
3. Bluetooth: won't transfer files or pictures
4. Fragile: you've probably seen too many cracked iPhone screens yourself
5. No radio tuner
6. can't use alarm clock if phone turned off, are you kidding me?
this list goes on...I can't finish

Now in comparison with the 5+ years Nokia N95
It does all the above, and 5.0 mp camera.
The battery life is not like 5+ years ago, but 2-days per charge is no problem.

On top of that, AT$T is hiking up that phone bill like never before.

iPhone 4S+AT&T, I've had enough of you!!!

My iPhone 4S is an excellent phone. After years with AT&T I remain a very satisfied customer.

Fact is, owning a highly useful smartphone is not for everyone, nor is it cheap to use.

There's lots of feature phones for free with lower operating costs. Your choice of carriers is vast. Do some legwork & you'll find one you can afford.

If you like Nokia so much then go back to your N95, which was great, I know. But you can also try the new Nokias, see how the fit you? I'm sure that you'll be disappointed the same way as your iPhone. Please don't compare new devices with such a powerful CPU to the old generation.
Show me an N95 which can play 720p movies without any problems or an N95 which runs beautiful 3D games on 960x640 resolution or even a tv set. Come on. Ohhhh forgot to say the all mighty an perfectly done sliding mechanism in the N95 which falls apart when you drop the phone. iPhone breaks? Well damn sure it does but so does the N95.
And BTW, get a life. Or a burito.

This phone is far from excellent, it has way too many problems. AT$T was actually excellent some time way in the past, but that was history.

An issue known and hopefully being addressed in the 5.1 update

2. Consume a lot of data: even Siri needs data, why?!
I agree siri should not need data use for internal commands such as reminders etc, but when you think about what the device does over the course of a day I'm happy that my iPhone gives me around 1.5 days before a recharge

3. Bluetooth: won't transfer files or pictures
Even cheap phones do this so Apple should implement it. A jb tweak will allow a user to achieve bluetooth transfer of such files.

4. Fragile: you've probably seen too many cracked iPhone screens yourself
Apart from rugged style built phones ,no handset is going to like being dropped. And to be fair i have seen one such damaged iPhone which belonged to a builder. Not really a phone id be using on a building site !

5. No radio tuner
Im not sure if a tweak exists but in my wants and needs this has never been a biggie. Phones I've had with this has never been used !

6. can't use alarm clock if phone turned off, are you kidding me?
I fully agree this is poor !

this list goes on...I can't finish
Why, you started the thread so you really should complete it

On balance 5+ years ago the technology was different and those phones gave different levels of service and usage. Phones are doing more and more and are now like mini macs/pc's in your pocket.

If the iPhone 4 or 4s is not for you then the beauty of choice is to move on to another phone. There will be plenty of people who will be willing to buy your iPhone.

Im in the Uk and use the 02 network who give me solid network coverage ,and fast 3g speeds at a good competitive rate. Although i do find the usa networks are more generous with their data packages compared to some uk ones.

Now that you've had your rant and vented I hope you find some inner peace.

OK, why are you coming to MacRumors, a place full of Apple fans that will **** on your argument anyways? Go complain to your therapist.

1. Drains batter quickly: needs to charge once per day.
Compared to a Nokia that does nothing but talk, text, and e-mail; yes, that's a poor battery. Compared to any smartphone on the market nowadays, the 4S has the longest general use battery life and an average talk time battery life.
Once per day is all you need. Just charge it while you sleep.

2. Consume a lot of data: even Siri needs data, why?!
What do you mean "consume a lot of data"? If you're complaining about programs needing to consume data, you need to learn Technology 101 because ON ANY DEVICE, if you can use it as a progam, it uses data.
If you're talking about Internet data; internet data usage is the same for every phone because it's not about the phone model, but the actual Internet files you're accessing.

3. Bluetooth: won't transfer files or pictures
Again, you seem stuck in the past. E-mail it to yourself or text it to yourself and use a Desktop SMS application. Bluetooth isn't used for much now, except for wireless peripheral connection.

4. Fragile: you've probably seen too many cracked iPhone screens yourself
However, there are alot of durable cases for the iPhone. You've probably seen hundreds of iPhones with thin but durable cases and screen protectors.

5. No radio tuner
If you actually used the radio at all, you'd constantly be hearing broadcasters advertising the iHeartRadio app.

...Are you serious? You want a phone that turns on by itself to alarm you and wake you up? There exists no phone that does that.

Please, continue. I want to see what else you expected from this phone, and what else you thought it didn't do but it actually does if you used this magical problem solver called Google.

The Nokia N95 has an operating system not nearly as supported, as modern, or as featured as iOS. The N95 has a tiny screen, the N95 is a thick sliding telephone...without any QWERTY keyboard OR a touchscreen, the N95 has a slower processor and half the RAM size; shoots at only 640x480 instead of the iPhone's 720p shooting and has slow SD memory instead of the iPhone's fast Flash memory.

Also, the 4S is available with Sprint, the only non-evil phone company nowadays.

I don't understand why a couple of you are complaining that the alarm doesn't work when the phone is off...

Does an actual alarm clock work when it's off?

If you don't want to receive calls during your sleep, just turn on Airplane Mode and then it's just your alarm clock at that point. No calls.

The reason the iPhone is faster and smoother than those Android phone is not the powerful CPU (even though the A5 is pretty damn powerful), but rather because iOS is so buttery smooth and optimized.

I don't see how any of what you wrote makes the phone useless or a piece of junk. The only actual issue you mentioned is the battery life draining quickly, but that's not supposed to happen and it could be resolved for you if you tried, by getting a replacement model.

Your second point isn't accurate at all. The amount of data consumed is dependent on you, not the phone. Siri needs (very little) data because it sends commands off to the main server to be processed.

The rest of your list is all down to you not doing your research. You make these sound as if they're important features to you, and if that's the case, you should've made sure the phone you're about to purchase didn't have any of these "deal breakers".

Oh and the Nokia may have a 5MP camera but the quality of the sensor would be significantly less than anything today. The iPhone 4S' image quality is vastly superior.

Dude , i dont troll !

I prefer to turn my iPhone 4 off at least once a week to give it a break, and in my mind, have some down time. While I'm doing this i would like to have the alarm clock be active, and sound within this down time.

Other smartphones can do it so in line with that apples iPhones should have no reason not to do this too.

Me troll......lol
