2 account prefs in sys prefs
Screen shot below. Do you think i have been hacked? I have in the past, this guy made an extra account and changed my root pass.

Go to YourHardDisk/System/Library/PreferencePanes/
and see if there is more than one Accounts.prefPane file in there. When you click on them in System Preferences, are they different in any way? Or do they both appear to contain the same information? |

just delete the ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.preferencepanes.cache file.
this will also fix the problem with disappearing preferences. |
