iPhone: Restoring Jailbreak iPhone 3g after erasing all content and settings

Hi All,

I jailbreak my iphone 3g with iOS4.2.1 and iPad Baseband 6.15.
Since the phone was very slow, I tried to restore it by erasing all content and settings.
I also did not save the SHSH file.

Now I am in middle of nowhere.

I know I have done the most stupid thing, Is there any hope for my phone?

1st an erase all content is NOT a restore.
2nd you cannot do an erase all on a JB device. It will 100% always get stuck at the Apple logo.
3rd since you have the ipad bb installed you cannot restore it to any stock firmware with iTunes EVER.
You need to restore to custom JB 4.2.1 ipsw. You have to put your iphone in pwned dfu mode first using redsnow and then open itunes and select the custom JB ipsw you created. If you attempted to restore to official firmware with itunes and offcourse if failed then your baseband is in inconsistent state and will not recognize any sim at all so you will need to reflash the ipad bb.
If any of that sounds Chinese to you then you need to research more and learn before you attempt anything further.

I know i goofed up here.

By now I came to know, that erase all content is not a restore :-(
As you said it is stuck at the apple logo, I shall try the steps mentioned by you.

I put my iphone in pwned dfu mode using redsnow, then tried to restore it to iPhone1,2_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw, but I keep getting 1015 error.

How do I Reflash iPad BB?

Currently it is always stuck with the apple logo.

you must use the custom IPSW generated by pwnage tool/sn0wbreeze
if you still get an error make sure the hosts are pointing AT APPLE SERVERS

It worked. But whenever I make a call, it says Call Failed.

Also, I have upgraded to IPad BB, can I downgrade to the original and unjailbreak the phone?

I have no clue what it points to.

No, you're stuck with the iPad bb. You can never downgrade it to a stock baseband or firmware.
Try reinstalling the iPad bb with redsnow to see if it works.
And make sure you install ultrasnow from cydia.

yup installed Ultrasn0w from cydia. everything seems f9 now. justtrying to sync my contact n music files from my previous iphone (unjailbreak) backup.

Not for now, maybe when BB numbers go above 6.15, but nobody knows.

I highly doubt anyone is still working on the iPhone 3G.
It's old and outdated. Even Apple abandoned any support for it.

In short I've done exactly the same thing as this guy, what a dumbass!
I JB'ed my iphone 3G using redsnow and iphone.3g.custom.restore.firmware.4.2.1.8c148.ipsw
That was about six months ago when I bought it locked in a recovery loop.
So I was pleased with myself till this!!! WHat an idiot!
So Anyway, now I cannot even get the fecking thing into PWN'ed DFU recovery mode. Redsnow 0.9.10b5c gives me the message "Sorry, that isn't supported yet on the 1st gen. device." after, and now even before each failed attempt.
Well have I really done it this time guys OR is there anything I can do!?

ok you have to go to extras, then select IPSW and then go to Pwned DFU and fallow the steps.. and tour done
