"NO SIM Card Installed" after updating to 5.1

I have just updated to 5.1 and now my sim card is not detected. Is this a known issue and and is there a fix?

Perhaps your phone is a jailbroken-unlocked iPhone? Then the OS upgrade probably disabled your jailbreak-unlock.

Its not joilbroken and I did try resetting the network settings which didnt fix anything.

I was going to do a full restore but wanted to check that everything was being backed up with icloud first ... but the icloud settings were "currently unavailable" so will try again.
