Hi,

Ye so the title pretty much covers it up.

I dropped my iPhone , not far just from the hip and now its not responding to my finger touching the screen. I have tried restarting the phone but I havent restored it, I think its hardware.
Its jailbroken btw.

So I think it has to do something with the digitizer or the LCD. Heres the thing, I wanna know which part to buy.

If the screen is active , I can see everything but I cant touch it, then in what part is there something going on that is not right?

Is it the http://www.zeetron.com/products/Apple-IPhone-3G-LCD-Replacement-OEM.html
that I should buy or is it

http://www.zeetron.com/products/iPhone-3G-Digitizer-Full-Kit.html

or

http://www.zeetron.com/products/iPhone-3g-LCD-Plus-Metal-Back.html
http://www.zeetron.com/iphone-3g-digitizer-glass-and-lcd-repair-service/

Iam very confused.

Thank you in before-hand!

Best Regards,

This is a 3G right? What you need is a front panel assembly, which means the front glass plate, the digitizer and the frame that holds the LCD. You say your LCD is fine, so you don't need to buy that. Just swap it.

Anyway, before spending money you should check if no connectors have come loose as a result of dropping it. Remove the two screws adjacent to the charging port, and pull the screen off with a rubber suction cup. Place it just above the home button. The screen might be stuck a little due to the rubber surround, so don't yank it off without restraint. The screen has three ribbon cables running from it. If one is disconnected that's your problem right there.

This site has some good guides

If stuff is broken, you need something like this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Digitizer-T...888?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cbc7e2318

or

http://www.ebay.com/itm/iPhone-3G-C...Accessories&hash=item4ab48ad519#ht_3778wt_744

these include the home button, earspeaker and light/prox sensors.

really proffesional answer, thank you very much!

Ill look into that, ok. The apple store that I went to, here in Nairobi, he said that if it was about loose cables the screen wouldnt be working. I guess there IS a chance this can be about loose cables?

So ye, ill check into this.

3G yep

The guy that you spoke to was wrong. There's a cable for the LCD, a cable for the digitizer and a cable for speaker/proximity/light. So it's perfectly possible that the LCD works, but the digitizer does not. It is a long shot, but it is possible that the digitizer connector came loose from dropping the phone, and since the phone is now unusable anyway, it's best to check this before spending money :)
