2mb or 8mb cache..considerable difference?

WIll a hard drive with a 2mb cache have any real noticable difference to a 8mb cache?

And what exactly does the extra 6mb do will it speed up access times??

Yes, it matters. You will see a noticeable improvement.

There's a huge difference when working with video apps - the buffer allows for fewer errors when writing to the disk. Larger buffer = fewer dropped video frames.

Absolutely, especially if you use the drive to house your operating system partition. I recently replaced the main hard drive on my PC after it died and the disk performace is very, very noticeable. I play a lot of WoW on my PC and the boost in disk speed seems like it's helping the game load and perform faster.
