Trade in mac

Apple doesn't do a trade in program, unless they find it defective and decide to replace it. That assumes it has AppleCare.

now im hoping they did not get applecare and i can get it from them

Having AppleCare gives the Mac a higher value. IMHO it's a smart idea to have with any Mac. Good luck with your Mac.
