Mac equivalent of Tapatalk?

Surely you're aware that you can get notifications for subscribed threads and private messages directly from the forum, without the need for 3rd party apps, right?
Also, you can avoid ads by contributing to the forum:

I've tried using Siilihai, and imho it's truly awful and unusuable for folks who frequent many forums through Tapatalk.

Still looking for a desktop version. I'd even be fine with chrome/safari extension!

What is miss is usenet newsreaders. Before usenet become a repository for porn/pirate software, it was the main place for discussion forums. You could pick your client, subscribe to various forums, and applications would support multi-threading etc. Great times and incredibly fast.

Now everything is web-based. Seems like a step backwards. Forums need a free/open source means of accessing their data via a client.
