I just got a super cheap ($9.99) case for my iPad while I wait on SwitchEasy to get the CARA into production for TNiP. It is a "leather" portfolio kind and has magnets in the corner to keep the portfolio closed but it is NOT a smart cover. Someone mentioned to me that magnets near the iPad that are not a part of the smart cover can affect performance - which doesn't make a ton of sense to me -but I thought I'd ask.

I can't see how it would affect anything. I've had a case with magnetic closures on my iPad 2 since last April without issue.

On a related topic, I have a Sena Florence with the magnetic closures and it doesn't work with the new iPad smart sleep function. I think I can move the magnet to fix it, but annoying nonetheless.
