Just upgraded my ATV2 to the ATV3 and tested it out tonight watching 3 Musketeers. I have to say the picture is much improved for 1080P versus the old 720p. So much so my wife even noticed the picture was "crisper". I was pleasantly surprised.
For reference I have a 64" plasma so your mileage may vary on smaller panels but on this screen the difference is night and day. We also sit about 8-10 feet from the screen.
