I've been browsing these threads for hours, and I can't seem to find the case I'm looking for. I need the thinnest possible leather case, with a magnetic closure that activates the sleep/wake functionality, covering the back as well. Optimally, there would be no leather frame covering the bezel. The best case I found so far is the Sena Florence magnetic casehttp://www.senacases.com/apple/new-ipad-3-cases/magnetic-florence/, but it has the leather frame surrounding the bezel. It seems to have the right combination of style and thinness that I'm looking for. Does anyone know of something similar but without the leather covering the bezel? Does such a case exist?

Much thanks!

You need to wait until the suppliers catch up with the new iPad's dimensions. I'm sure you'll see all the usual suspects coming to market in 30-90 days with new offerings that fit your requirements.

In the meantime, you may want to consider a temporary solution:

Zagg Leather back skin:
http://www.zagg.com/leatherskins/ipad3.php#black-plain

Apple leather Smart Cover:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD301LL/A

Can't get much thinner than that combination.

If you want more protection....you'll likely have to wait a bit.

Another option is the Marware Microshell for the back and the leather smart cover for the front.

I am looking for the exact same thing....seems like all of the leather cases cover the bezel. The only one that I've found that doesn't is the SGP vintage case but I think it's more of a suede leather than smooth. Just checked their website and it doesn't look like any of their cases for the new iPad fit the bill.

Are the Vaja cases thin enough?

Here are the best that I found so far:

U-Suit Folio Premium

Sena Florence Magnetic

The Vaja cases are very nice, but they aren't the slimmest available, and the case I would likely get (Libretto) has poor reviews (especially given the price).

I think I'm going to end up with the Sena case, even though I don't like the leather around the bezel. The U-Suit case doesn't seem to offer very good protection on the sides. And I can have the Sena embossed, which is nice.

The U-Suit is almost an exact replica of the Targus Vuscape. Costs the same as well. Although the U-Suit isn't real leather, its that bi-cast "PU" stuff, same as Yoobao cases.

How about the Beyza executive

http://us.beyzacases.com/pd-the-new-ipad-executive-ii-case.cfm

Or the Portenzo Teju-

https://shop.portenzo.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=teju_iPad_2

While the Beyza covers the bezel, and the Portenzo is a little bulky, I think they are both worthy.

And then there are the best of the Maroo cases - Kumara and Mangua - also worthy but perhaps not slim enough.

Happy hunting-

Steven

Thanks for the tips.

The Beyza is VERY nice, but so similar to the Sena that I'll just go for the Sena at half the price, and get it embossed.

The Griffin Elan Slim fits that bill it does have a little around the bezel but not that much where it bothers one or like the one the OP showed in that link.

It works like the original Apple case but has a smart cover feature.

Personally, I do not like any cases that cover the bezel. I also have two Vaja cases for my iPad 1 that I have loved. I may go for the Vaja, but the Incipio Smart Feather keeps drawing me back to it even though it is not a leather case.

Keep an eye out for the Melkco Slimme. I assume it will be updated for the new iPad.

I am also looking at a similar case!
I have been looking at a lot of cases and I have narrowed down my choices to the following,
The booq pad agenda,
The booq folio,
Incase leather bookjacket select, and
Hex code folio for the iPad.
Note all leather versions of these cases!

But I am still searching for some less bulkier options!

You can order these through the carrymobile website for the iPad 3. I'm waiting for someone to pull the trigger and report back. I've seen some reviews on the Melko iPad 2 cases that said they preferred the matte finish leather on the Melkon rather than the natural looking Melko leather.

Someone please order this one and give some feedback. My local UPS store is on first name basis with me from all my case purchases and multiple returns. I've kept some but returned many as either the cases were not at all as shown in the photos or were really poor quality.

I actually love this case. But I ordered the red one and the look of the leather was not like in the photo. Not just a natural weathered look but it looked like someone spilt a milkshake on the leather during the tanning process or did a tie dye process to it. I wouldn't even mind the tie dye look if it was uniform. But it wasn't - the top part of the cover was all light spots and darker more even in the middle and one corner. Then the back of the case part was perfect and not at all blotchy. I thought I might have just received a dud but the eBay seller told me all of them even in other colors were all random splotchy.

If anyone finds this case with the leather looking like the photos, please let me know.

Here's the Jisoncase that I received. Like I said in the earlier post - really love this case. But you can see all the random spots and splotches.

So, I got my Sena case (delayed for a while as they were updating the case for the new iPad), and I'm not too impressed with it. A few things that bother me:
  1. iPad slides around a bit inside.
  2. Home button cutout is not centered properly on the bezel.
  3. Bezel pulls away from the screen a small amount.
  4. iPad is held in place with a flap that folds behind the iPad. The flap attaches to the back of the case with a velcro strip, that is very thick and makes a prominent bump on the back.
  5. The front flap doesn't stay in place when it's folded back… it slides around quite a bit.
  6. Some of the stitching is starting to fray. And I've only had it a week or so.

The leather is quite nice, and besides for the bump in back, it's quite thin. For an $80 case, I expected better though.

Thanks for the heads-up. I actually did see this case online before, but for some reason didn't go for it. After my disappointment with the Sena, I'm going to give the Jisoncase (awful name!) a try. If that doesn't work for me, next on the list is the Chinao case.

----------

Not only that, but vaja cases have their corners exposed.

I prefer Piel Frama Magnetic. This would be the 4th Piel Frama case I've ordered over 3 years and they all still look brand new

Piel Frama is very nice, and definitely the quality level I like, but since my experience with the Sena Florence, I'm not getting any more cases that cover the bezel. I don't like when it pulls away, or traps dirt.

Yoobao's iSlim ticks all your boxes and has been updated for the new iPad.
