iTunes Track To Garageband

So, I have downloaded an instrumental version of a song from iTunes over which I want to lay down a vocal track. Is there any way, save burning to CD, then importing into Garageband, to get the file into Garageband?

In short no, at least not easily. Do you have a mixing board at all?

No, I'm not that professional. This was for my son's school project. Just didn't want to waste a CD and worried that in the future (post optical media) I won't be able to do this.
