converting mpeg's to mov's

We've already had the talk about viewing mpeg's that won't play in Quicktime...and from what i've seen- vlc seems to be the best way to go.
Unfortunelty... it doesn't offer an export or save as option.
So- my question to the masses...does anyone know of a way to convert these rouge mpegs into another format- that all can read?
Anyone?
 
Yes! Search for D-Vision (it's the best i think), or MacDivxCreator or ffmpegX on versiontracker.com or google, they allow reencoding to several other formats.
