How do I make system sounds louder?

How do I make system sounds louder on Mac? Louder in comparison to, say, music in iTunes.

In Windows, there were sliders for different output types.

System Preferences -> Hardware: Sound -> Sound Effects tab -> Alert Volume

You cannot make it louder than the rest, but loud enough...
