The new iPad

Long Awaited Apple Tablet Computer "iPad" Release Due in early July!

Mac users worldwide have been patiently waiting for the newest incarnation of the iBook. What has been kept tight-lipped is the most exceptional new feature to be included in Apple's consumer line, ink and handwriting functionality! Of course along with the release of the new OS will be the most exciting piece of hardware addition to the Apple product line. Dubbed "iPad", the new tablet computer is due for official release some time in July '05.

The iPad's exterior that is made up of a similar polycarbonate casing like its iBook and iPod cousins.

In a who would have ever thought scenario today, Apple announced the release of its new Apple iPad, a Tablet PC like device, and Dell has partnered with Apple to sell this hot new item.

Apple gave a sneak preview of its upcoming iPad at their Las Vegas store:

New Apple iPad to be released in July.

But the further surprise came today when Dell announced that it would be partnering with Apple to sell this new device.

Dell advertises the new Apple iPad on its site (view larger image)

This in a way makes sense as Dell has no plans to develop a Tablet PC device, and by partnering with Apple this fills a gap for them and allows them to compete on sales with Toshiba, HP and Fujitsu who all already have Tablet devices available. It's not clear what kind of money cut Dell will take from each sale of an Apple iPad, but as they're well known for being an online destination to go and buy computer and consumer electronic devices this will help Apple increase its sales as well.

So it is a win-win situation for both companies, and although Dell does sell electronics from other companies such as Sony and Canon cameras, it's just odd to see Apple and Dell collaborating.

Press and journalists were treated to a quick "close up and personal" with the new iPad.

A private sneak preview of the new device was generously arranged for journalists and press late Thursday night at the new Apple Store in Las Vegas. We were on site ready to get some photos, however close up photography was strictly forbidden.

An anxious crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the new "iPad" tablet computer from Apple.

Analysts expect that a family of iPad laptops will be available by July 7th, starting at 1,399 USD.

You certainly have an active imagination!

P.S. Apple doesn't use Serif fonts for the printing on their products very often.

This is your brain:

Apple has a powerbook, iBook, iMac, PowerMac, and eMac and a cheap Mac called a Mac mini.

This is your brain on drugs:

Now that dotdotdot mentions it, the mechanical pencil for a stylus was a nice touch. It wouldn't have been convincing except that you put that Apple logo on there. But now I'm sold.

Oh, also the original site from which the pics were taken: clink

The site said it'd be out in June.
It's July.

I'm guessing the pic of the big line is from Tiger night, and in the pic of the guy holding the "iPad", the shirt is nothing like any official-apple-clerk shirt I've ever seen.

And Apple hasn't used Serif fonts in a long time.
*is staring at the non-serif "PowerBook G4" written 18 inches away from her nose*

EDIT: Also, this article was released on April 1.
OK, everyone laugh together, now.

You should call Apple up and complain that you didn't get an iPad in the package with yours, then!
