downloading youtube videos stopped working
For years, I've used the old "Safari Activity Window" trick to download videos from youtube and now, all of a sudden, it has stopped working. the activity window used to show a .swf file that I could download. now, none are available. I know what file it is in the list, but it won't download as a .swf file. instead it downloads as a document. anyone know why or how I can fix it?

I just find the file in the Activity window that has the largest filesize. Many times that is "videoplayback" (with no extension) which is actually an MP4.

I always used to do this myself too. But recently it doesn't seem to work for me. So I have been using a free program called MacTubes and that works well (in spite of the fact that it often puts up an alert saying there was an error).

I recently went through all this malarky it took a long time but eventually I came across FastestTube which is a Safari extension that adds a download button to youtube videos. Couldn't be simpler.
