I'm sorry if this topic has been up before (I couldn't really find anything - I searched for "sorting", "folders first", "file managing" and so on), but I was wondering if there is a way to sort the files in Finder by kind AND alphabetical - without the need of buying third party applications like for example Path Finder. Google told me how I should do to make the Kind-option make the folders appear on top, but then it's not alphabetical at the same time.

I feel that I'm a bit unclear (it's late here) so, to sum things up:

  • No third party application
  • Folders on top whilst...
  • ...every Kind in it's own alphabetical order
  • Work in Leopard
  • Easily reverted

Well, okay, let's say third party applications were allowed in this case - since there's not a whole lot of fast answers. But then it must be free and should be able to be run automatically in the background at startup. Does this open up any windows?
