netflix surround sound
Hi all, I've got an older mac mini (maybe 3 gen back, came with the upgraded graphics and still had the DVD) and use it as my htpc. We don't currently have a surround sound system and I was considering getting one--however, I'm not sure it would work with netflix or the mac mini I have. Does anyone have insight on this? As the bulk of our watching is netflix, I don't really want to bother with it otherwise.
Thanks! |

Okay you have a white c2d model ? if you do it has an optical out the
{head phone jack} plug this into it http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2 then this http://www.monoprice.com/products/se...+cable&x=0&y=0 the correct length for your setup. then get a ht that uses optical. this one does http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...vers/VSX-522-K Last edited by philipma1957; Apr 30, 2012 at 06:55 PM. |

I'm looking into this too. From what I'm reading I don't think you can get surround sound through PC for Netflix, only PS3 for now. Hopefully someone can chime in on this because I would like to run surround sound on Netflix.
No luck with Safari/Silverlight. I have surround sound through VLC/iTunes so I know my connection works, Mini HDMI>>>Sony XBR Optical>>>Sony Receiver |

I believe that is still true. PS3 only, that is a Netflix thing, not much Apple can do about it. Just have to use Pro Logic.
