My current HDD in PM G5 is very noisy, I guess it is because it's age, 7 years old now. I think I will replace it soon, but question is, with what? No big storage is needed as there aren't any media files stored in this computer, mostly some pictures and text files. Or should I go with SSD for fast performance and completely quietness?

Any suggestions? Looking for max 60GB size and better lower price.

IF all you want is 60GB max, go for an Electra 3G SSD from Other World Computing. Myself I'm looking at one of their SSDs for a boot drive for my G5, only 120-240GB.

It just pops in and doesn't need any connection conversions?

I got good offer for OWC Mercury Extreme Pro SSD 40GB, which is SATA revision 2.0. Sure it is compatible without any mods? Just want reassurance..

Swapped 7 year old HDD with OWC SSD, difference is big! In terms of speed I see quite big leap and the most frustrating crunching sound is gone!
SSD is worth it.

I see you already purchased a drive, but I'm a big fan on Seagate's Momentus Hybrid drive. 7200RPM with 4GB SSD onboard. It's a beautiful combination of speed and capacity. "80 percent faster performance than traditional 7200-RPM drives in PCMark Vantage benchmark scores"
