Hi everyone,
I am visiting France at the end of this month for a week.
I searched the forums for prepaid sim card information but I don't seems to quite grasp the specific info just for the one like mine, iph (not ipad), 4s, unlocked.
Does anyone here not mind giving me some more information?

I'd like to have at least 1hr voice and probably more than 100mb ~ 250 mb, or more preferred.

I have a friend staying there who might help me to sign up with a french ID/bank/credit card, if that is required, but I prefer finding ways to purchase a prepaid card that I can buy myself and activate too.

I read about Orange, SFR, vodafone and gevey here. But I don't understand what actually will work for me. Can anyone tell me where to go, how to activate, available rates if possible?
And I am not sure what i read from this site is up to date. It seems to be old info. http://prepaid-wireless-internet-access.wetpaint.com/page/France+-+Orange

Any comments are appreciated
Thanks

You don't need to sign up for a pre-paid credit card in France as you can use your American one, or withdraw from an ATM and pay with cash. SIM cards and places to buy SIM cards are all over the place - just have your friend walk around with you and choose one.

I like to post what I found to answer to my own question;;
I found the information on this site is very helpful and up to date
http://prepaidwithdata.wikia.com/wiki/France

so what i will do is to get a Morbicarte from Orange (E9) and activate it and buy Internet Max plan(for data 500/ mth, at E9), and add voice for unlimited daytime E3 unlimited nightime E3
my approx. cost will be 9+9+3+3-5(credit on card)

I don't need a french friend who can vouch for me with french id and credit cart.
I need to register with orange after activation though with my US passport in 24 hrs.

Now I am wondering if I can get this sim card here in usa like through ebay?
I am looking at this item
http://www.ebay.com/itm/FRENCH-SIM-..._Home_Phones_Sim_Cards_CV&hash=item4ab4439dfe

so I can activate it here and don't need to wait the activating time which can be upto 24hr so I can use it as soon as I land in France?

I also found this info is helpful for those who do not need data plan and need just voice plan.

Hi I'm in France right now. What I did was get a prepaid SIMcard, put some credit on it, then registered for Internet Max. It took less than 24 hours to activate. You don't need our passport or an address, just a piece of ID. Orange has the best prepaid deal for data, definitely.

The problem you may run into is lack of English. I speak French so it wasn't a problem, but if you have to resort to Franglais, try using words like pre-pay-ee and recharge (instrad of top-up).

Have fun!

Buying a SIMcard ahead of time is useless as you need to go throu a SIMApp in France on the orange network.

How did you register for the Internet Max plan? Do you do it at an Orange store where you got the SIM card? Or something else?

TIA
