Advice on buying a used 2010 15"

Hi,
I was wondering if you could give me maybe some info whether to buy a used 15" Macbook Pro currenty for sale in my country. It is the base 2,4 ghz i5 model and the price stated is 750€ (roughly 1000$). The condition should be quite good and it is stated that it looks OK.
Would you recommend buying it? Been craving for an Apple computer for some while now and wanting to replace my desktop with a laptop, so this is the perfect opportunity. Then again I would like a smaller and lighter model and this may well be a bit out of reach by price so I would have to improvise(nothing illegal or shady, mind you) with getting some money.
So what do you guys think?
