I have an old AppleTV (v1, not jailbroken), a quasi-old MacBook Pro (running OS 10.5.8) and an iPad 2. I tried to find someone who had this same scenario and can't seem to in the forum searching I've done...excuse my newness to this all; I am by no means an advanced user of any of the above.

I am trying to figure out the best/easiest/cheapest way to mirror my MBP onto my TV, hopefully also having the capability of streaming non-iTunes video files.

From what I'm finding, my options would require either upgrading my OS (AirParrot only works on newer OS's) and/or jailbreaking my ATV. I am happy to upgrade my OS, but thought I'd check with the experts to see if there is a consensus "best way" that I might be missing.

Thanks in advance for your help!
