I recently backed up my MBP to a external harddrive that has my iMac backups on it. I'm trying to restore a app and it's system files through Time Machine. I did see my iMac backups before I backed up my MBP. Whenever I go into TM I only see my MPB backups. I tried cntrl+clicking Time Machine and the option clicking on the apple bar and I only see the dates of the backups not the actual backups themselves.
I would try Migration Assistant but it's too broad. I only need on Application and it only migrates all of them. I don't want to go through the trouble of deleting all of the apps except for one of them.
