Probably in the $200-$250 range. I switch cases all the time. Funny, the one I like most was the least expensive - The Case-Mate Barely There.
I actually agree with you, I have spent over 100 on cases for my 4s and the favorite of mine right now is the zoogue one I got for free.
Its really weird. I just brought a Speck Pixelskin HD after my Candyshell started peeling and loving it. Loving the slim feel and the cool pixel texture on the back but for $35 its not cheap.
Ditto. Spent tons of money before deciding I liked it best without. I have a Saddleback Leather pouch now.

Lots and i don't really want to contemplate the true cost.

$35 for a Candyshell. I'm a bit bored with the color (teal blue with black trim), so I may buy a new one at some point.

I used to spend a lot, like hundreds but now keep my iPhone naked. I got sick of 1)Spending the money 2)Keeping the phone covered/extra bulk etc.
Thats redicoulous, you spend a round $200 bucks on Cases then when one fails you spend $200 to replace your cracked phone. Why not just save $200 and just use your iPhone naked beat the **** out of it, scratch it up and then just pay the $200 to get a new one later on ?? 😀
I have spent waaaayy too much. I have candyshell, pixel skin, one of the frogz cases that broke, an incipio ngp, mophie juice pack plus and a couple other $5-10 cases from amazon and eBay. I have a **** load of different colored bumpers and transparent cases. I've probably got about 35-40 cases and bumpers. I've also bought six different colored back replacements and a bunch of decals. I'm addicted to modifying my phone =/ I've spent more on cases and decals and backs than the cost of the phone lol
And the sad part? I don't use any of them anymore. I just put on a colored back replacement and use it with a zagg screen protector now. Sometimes I'll put a bumper on it if I'm going to concerts or parties because the iPhone is pretty slippery and I don't want to accidentally drop it while drinking.

At least $100. My favorite is a Griffin etched plastic (looks like dark carbon fiber) case I picked up from Walmart for about $10. Go figure... 🙄
Two Candyshells over the life of my 3GS, which I think I got for around $20 each on Amazon. And so far one official Apple bumper for my 4S. I'll probably replace that next fall. One case a year seems like a reasonable expense to me.
