Importing .AC3's into iTunes Help

Hi there. I am having a problem importing an album worth of .ac3 songs into my iTunes on Win 7. For .mp3s all I have to do is drag and drop into iTunes but for these .AC3's it is not working.

Any suggestions!?

Note: Music did not come from iTunes store so it didn't download into library automatically and files are in separate location from iTunes media library.

You will have to transcode them to a format that iTunes recognizes - MP3, AAC, WAV, and AIFF. Unfortunately, I am not aware of anything that can read that format but I would bet that VLC can handle it and transcode it.
