So, I know that you can put an LTE Sim card from Verizon in the "new" iPad, but does anyone know if this will work with iPad 2? Since it doesn't have a LTE radio it should revert to 3G, right?

To clarify the Sim is already activated. I wonder if the iPad 2 will recognize and be able to use 3g.

I remember when I was moving my iphone 4s line to a 4g sim(ipad 3) verizon told me if you put that 4g sim back in the iphone it would deactivate because the iphone was 3g and not 4g.

I suggest you call verizon for better clarification but thats what they told me.
