Determining what version of IOS firmware is installed on a passcode locked iPhone 4

I put it into DFU mode and ran f0recast but nothing comes up. It says "no device connected" but iTunes detects it in recovery mode. I have tried nearly every firmware and it keeps saying my device is not eligible for the requested build.

(I use mac but have access to a PC...)
