I have just been adjusting my spoken word files to have the .m4b ending, (in order to make them 'bookmarkable'.) I noticed that they were originally .m4a format and was wondering, can I change the songs I download from the iTMS from .m4p to .m4a, thus enabling me to make MP3 CDs with them, (as I could with the .m4a spoken word files.)

Burn your protected files to a CD, then Re-Rip them as MP3's. I've heard this works, though I've never tried it.
I have done that and it does work, but I was wondering if there was an easier way.
