Last minute predictions before tomorrow: What do you guys think the new top-of-the-line iMac will receive for the GPU? Will it be the AMD Radeon HD 7970m or Nvidia GTX 680m? I honestly hope Apple will deliver the GTX 680m. The performance outperforms the AMD card (up to 15%) and features many more highlights, although the price will probably be the turning point to affect Apple's decision (About $300 more, a premium price tag compared to the 7970m).

I don't know graphics cards, but I know that the more expensive one will be better, so I'll get that one. :D:)

I don't recall any iMac shipping with top of the line GPUs, they're usually decent, but not top. After all this is not directed as a gaming rig, so I can't see the incentive to pour top $ into the slight gain offered. Being an all-in-one, it's a compromise.

Agreed my MId 2011 27" has the 2GB AMD 6970M GPU, update? A tweak in that direction, that's all I think...I play the odd game, mostly retro stuff, runs them fine. It's principal use is Video stuff which it does well...As for an upgrade (Next Year) from here?

Logic says a Pro...But that's for a different thread!

6970M is the current 2011 model is basically a top-of-the line GPU.

My guess is the 7970m, the 680m is too expensive. Anything less than 7970m would be an insult though.

What do you reckon are the gpu options for the second tier 21.5" ? If they're going with AMD I thought it would be the 7770M, but I haven't seen anything released with that. With the most recent rumour it now seems more plausible that they'll go with Nvidia. Do you think the GTX 660 or the GT 650 are the best candidates?

660M or comparable seems reasonable.
