My sister has a 2008 MacBook currently running Leopard. She just got an iPhone 4S and was looking into using iCloud, but can't because she's on Leopard.

In order to upgrade to Lion she'd have to upgrade to Snow Leopard first right? This would cost $60, correct?

Does Lion run well on 2008 MacBooks? Would she be better off just upgrading to Snow Leopard?

And what about Mountain Lion? Using speculation, would she still have to upgrade in order (Snow Leopard to Lion to Mountain Lion)?

Thanks for any help.

looks like 2008 aluminum macbooks will work with mountain lion. if that's the system that you're talking about, then you could probably get a mountain lion upgrade usb drive, and do a fresh install of that, or if not, then just a lion usb installer, and do a clean install of that. that way you could save some money on buying several versions of the operating system, and spend that extra cash upgrading the ram to 4gigs if you've not done so already. it would ensure that the new os wouldn't run slow on the system.
