I hope that Apple updates the YouTube app. Both the ones for the iPhone and iPad need to be upgraded. Perhaps a way to filter categories and video length (like on the website), and the ability to search by username could really make this app much better.

where did you get this from? the only rumors I've seen were they wanted to get away from Google maps and use their own in house software.

Damn. That stinks. It's not so much a problem with the iPad because I can just use the browser for the most part instead of the app, but the app is somewhat of a disappointment on the phone
Hopefully by the time the Gold Master comes around for iOS 6, the YouTube app will show some improvements!
I disabled YouTube in restrictions to remove the app.
Then added the mobile site to my homescreen.
