I am over in the US visiting the in-laws and I have been presented with a faulty iMac by my father in-law. I don't have much info on the machine, it is a white flat screen iMac with built in iSight, not sure if it is the first Intel or last G5.
Anyway it has been playing up for a while now and a few days ago it died all together. It would take an age to boot and then once it got past the Mac OSX loading screen it just sat with a blue screen and mouse.
I have tried booting off the install disc, no joy it just spits the disk back out. I have tried selecting start-up disc on boot, it gives me that option of HD or DVD but neither work. I have tried booting into SafeMode; I get through the password prompt but then I get the desktop background and mouse but nothing else.
I have also reset the PRAM.
Anyone else with any other ideas?
It's always good to earn a few brownie points with the in-laws.
Thanks.
