Hi,
I bought a second hand iPhone 3G today, plugged it into to iTunes to restore it to factory settings and restore it from an old backup and now it is totally locked and giving a 1015 error.

Since plugging into iTunes I have discovered it was unlocked and jailbroken before. In my naivety I hadn't even bothered looking or asking.

I do not really want it jailbroken but will jailbreak it if it is the only way to get it working again.

I have read hundreds of forum posts but I really have no idea where to start if someone can point me to a solution somewhere I would be really grateful. I have a Mac with Lion and I have no idea what iOS was installed on the iPhone before I bought it. I just need some step by step instructions of what to do - at the moment the phone just says connect to iTunes but when I do it tries to restore and then gives a 1015 error.

Any help would be massively appreciated,

thanks
