Whenever I put my MBA in sleep mode does that write the 8GB sleep "file" to the SSD? I have 8GB of RAM. Seems like that could add up to some serious writes over the months/years.

Sorry I wasn't clear.

I understand RAM=sleep image size

My question is... Does every single time the Mac goes to sleep does that file get written? That could add up to a lot of writes.

This has been discussed on many forums regarding the read/write border on a ssd. You should be fine. The ssd can take it and the conveniences of sleep outweigh the wear and tear on the ssd.
