I'm out of warranty so that's no issue plus I'm jailbroken also # Question is are the color swaps safe

Check your product documentation for user serviceable parts.
Apple says "iPhone does not contain any user-serviceable parts, except for the SIM card and SIM tray."
Anything not specifically stated as such will likely void the warranty.
Some Geniuses don't care, others will use any excuse not to help.
