Syncing old iPhone with new Macbook Air

My old Macbook recently died so i bought a new Macbook Air. Lost all the information on the old computer; address book, photos, music, everything. I downloaded new music to the Macbook Air and i still have all my contact information on my iPhone. Any precautions or special steps i need to take to sync the two? I'm worries all my contacts will be deleted when i sync my old iPhone to the new Macbook Air.
