I forget exact HOW I came across this, but in any event, if you want to take a trip back down memory lane to the year 2003 I recommend you head on over to:

http://www.halodemomods.com

...and download the HaloMD app.

I thought I would have to follow a series of complicated steps to get it running..but no! Download, run the installer and bam. That's it.

You might have to tweak the video settings but it plays real well and you get to play one level from the single player game - or join a multiplayer match at Blood Gulch! I think you're limited to just other HaloMD players (of which I doubt there are many) so don't expect a full 16 player game.

But I'm in heaven. Can't believe I'm playing Halo on my Mac...craziness.

One of the few games on Windows (that don't have a Mac version) that I enjoy! Only reason to keep Windows now is for SimCity! (Seriously, I'm very pissed that there isn't a Mac version, like, WTF?)

Eh? There's a Mac version of Halo -- I've had it for years. And which SimCity do you mean? There's Mac versions of all of those too, except for the one that isn't out yet.

Just played like 15 minutes on the first level.
Its very glitchy, mainly just because you can't walk or ride the warthog thru certain parts. Its like theres an invisible wall in the middle of the battle field and you have to go around it. Very frustrating when in a warthog, or when chugging sticky grenades...
Otherwise its pretty good.

I'm looking at the forums right now from that wiki link you posted and hope I can find a fix or something, I would love to play the campaign again on my air. :)

I didn't know there was a Mac version? Does it run on Intel? And I mean the new upcoming SimCity.

Yes, there's a Universal Binary version of Halo, though it's expensive to buy the Mac version now. I picked up my copy back when CompUSA was still open, years and years ago.

As far as SimCity 5 goes -- who knows?

I'm confused.

What is this thing?

Halo for Mac has been out for a very long time. The universal binary was released ages ago, and works flawlessly on OS X. I guess maybe the lack of Rosetta is an issue, but once you're patched and up to date I can't see why you couldn't copy that installation over to a 10.7 or 10.8 box.

I've played it through several times on 10.6 (system is in sig), works like a dream. I'm kinda wondering if the guy who "made" this version of Halo had the rights to do so, since it seems like a hacked up copy of the original demo or something with a custom launcher.

The "full" version of Halo Mac is no longer easily accessible to new people.

The "demo" version had a strong Mac competitive and modding based communities, but is no longer functional on recent hardware/software.

HaloMD is a mix of both versions. A hacked up version of full as you have guessed, acting much like a Demo backed up by mac players.

It adds extra functionality too, like hacking how the game recgonizes mods making them easier for anyone to play.

It primarily targets multiplayer, almost everyone on it are MD players. There are more players now than there were since this thread was created.

For more info, see its wiki page

Doesn't seem like those two web links actually sell Halo for Mac? This website claims to do so:

Haven't bought it myself though.
