How do you feel about the Samsung Galaxy Note
First off I am not trying to start a android vs ios war, I just want some of your opinions. Now the galaxy not is 5.3 inches diagonally. And the galaxy note 2 coming later this year will be 5.5 inches diagonally. Personally I think that anything bigger that the Galaxy Nexus is too big. But I have an iPhone only because ios just have so many better apps than android. That's a fact, and I think 4.3 is that sweet spot fir a screen size. But if the iPhone was 5.3 or 5.5 inches would you buy it. I wouldn't, that's just too big. What are your thoughts? And what is your sweet spot for a screen size?

I tried it out several months back. The size wasn't the biggest issue for me. It was pretty awkward at times, but you start to get used to it after a few days.
The main issues I had was 1.) all of the carrier bloatware AT&T put on there, 2.) the lack of timely updates (still running 2.3 last time I checked) and 3.) the abomination that is TouchWiz. After using an iPhone for the last couple of years I guess I just got spoiled, but I could not get past those first two issues. Sure you could root it and load up a custom ROM to get a more stock experience, but I really don't want to have to put that much effort into my cell phone. |

UGH, another Galaxy Note thread.
Just buy an iPad if you want a tablet. The note is a ridiculously oversized phone.

I used a Note for 2 weeks, and while in certain cases, like watching video, the screen is kind of nice, for everything else the size is just too big. I've gone to the SIII now, and even the .5 inches really makes it much more manageable.

Same here. Was just a touch too big to be my personal device and the battery didn't last too long. I too have the S3 now.

Too plastic for my taste. Not a high end feel in the hand. Apple > all phones.

Now that it appears Apple will offer an iPad in the 7" size before years end, that's what I really want to fill my desire to carry an iPad daily. My full size iPad stays at home since it's just too much to ad to my already well equipped laptop bag.

It all depends on what you predominately do with your phone. I'd love a 5.3-5.5" iPhone because I spend most of time reading emails and documents, and browsing the web. It would be nice to have a larger screen while reading and browsing.

Don't like the size. Have used one many times, but I simply rely to much on picking up my phone with one hand and quickly tapping out a message to use something so wide.

Back cover is too difficult to take off without feeling that it is going to break, but how often do people need to take off the back cover?
Screen is gorgeous - having a higher pixel density than the iPad's retina display, although I see no difference between the screens. Software is a little too laggy for my taste, even on ICS, but I feel that if there is an update for Jelly Bean, the OS will be buttery smooth. |

It's screen size is far too big for my needs.
The iPhone 4's 3.5" screen is perfect for me. |

There's a reason why it's called a "phablet". It's trying to be 2 different things, yet fails miserably on both. It's just Samsung trying to flood the market with all possible screen sizes, while hoping 1 sticks. I'm surprised they haven't released a 1" Android phone yet. 😜

I asked because I wanted to see if people would wanna see an iPhone this size. If you really don't like my question. You didn't have to stop by and comment. Twice

7 Million people agree that it's a good phone. Those are pretty good sales for a phone with a niche market.

Some things aren't meant to be mixed. For example, you do not put chicken in yogurt. It'd be gross. You also do not mix tablets and cell phones. It'd be massively uncomfortable.
Jokes aside, its size kills it. (Update: kills it for me) Last edited by MisterFeeney; Jul 9, 2012 at 02:16 PM. |

P.S. The SIII is a nice phone, but it's still a little too big for my taste. 4"-4.3" is my preferred screen size. |

5.3 inch with a 1280x800 screen(not that high DPI), its a nice phone... or mini tablet.
My galaxy s2 is enough

2. Its size IS the point, and certainly didn't "kill it." It's for people who want a phone that big, and those people got something they were looking for. Personally, I'd rather have something with a smaller screen size, but my Galaxy S2's 4.3" screen is probably as small as I'd go now. To me, it's a good size, although I'd like to see a 4.5" mobile phone. The Galaxy S3's large screen looks like it'd be difficult to carry around in my pant pocket, but I'm not certain. A 4.5" screen would probably be the upper limit for me.

The "kills it" line was my opinion regarding why I do not want it. The Note fits in a very small niche. Phones of its size do not directly compete with the iPhone or similarly sized phones. Said niche is not a big one, either. A lot of people can't handle a phone being so big and therefore the market for such a device is not a big one. I am one of those people. My phone needs to be a phone and my iPad an iPad. I don't need anything in between. |
