Would love to control my Mac Mini music library using my Macbook Air. Is this possible?

I can think of iTunes shared librairies... but iTunes will play on your Air and that is probably not what you are looking for. Then you could use an Airport Express (or Apple TV) plugged into your home stereo to play files from your Mini on your Air and through Airplay. Yuo could even, for the sake of it, store the library on a NAS connected to the Mini's network.

Otherwise I found these old apps on the internet, not sure what they do (seem to be using Bonjour):

http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/21518/itunes-remote-control
http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/7371/webremote-itunes (for a PPC running Mac)

Then there are scripts

And as a last resort, there is Remote Desktop (screen sharing) but it seems very clunky.

If nothing of the above works, you'd be better off buying a used iPod Touch...

Cheers,
Olivier

Not sure exactly what you want to control but you could set Remote Management in your MM to on and allow Share Screen. THen on your MBA you click on "Share Screen" in the finder Window when you see your MM in the left window. Then you should see your MM Desktop on your MBA. You can control anything then?

If you want to control the music and play it on your MBA then use Shared Library.

Also you might want to look at AirPlay in the AirPort Express possibly. This allows control of sound, as opposed to iTunes.

Thanks guys. I already have an iPhone and iPad so I can use Remote app there, but I would just like to also be able to control the music on my Mac Mini when I'm on my Air..

But I am considering buying a Time Capsule, so I guess that could solve the problem by storing the music on there :)
